1.2T Coherent Lite Optical Transceiver

1.2T Coherent Lite optical transceiver chip is a preliminary O-band optical-engine concept for polarization-multiplexed 16QAM transmission. The source worksheet defines draft transmitter and receiver optical/electrical targets, including high-speed conversion, optical attenuation control, monitor photodiodes, and coherent-receiver performance.

Key Features

  •  High-performance silicon photonics optical engine
  • O-band operating range of 1265-1337 nm with a 1310 nm typical wavelength.
  • PM-16QAM transmission target at 1.2 Tb/s.
  • Minimum 100 GHz transmitter electro-optic bandwidth with a co-designed driver.
  • Minimum 100 GHz receiver optical-to-electrical bandwidth.
  • Minimum 10 dB VOA attenuation range on both transmitter and receiver paths.
  • Monitor-photodiode support for automatic bias control and draft high-speed electrical-interface targets.

Transmitter Specifications

  • Operating wavelength: 1265-1337 nm
  • Electro-optical bandwidth: 100 GHz
  • Total optical insertion loss: < 19 dB
  • Optical return loss: < -27 dB
  • Polarization dependent loss: < 0.5 dB

Receiver Specifications

  • Operating wavelength: 1310 nm
  • Signal input responsivity: 40 mA/W
  • LO input responsivity: 8 mA/W
  • S21 electrical-to-optical bandwidth: 100 GHz
  • Polarization dependent loss: < 0.5 dB
